2018-12-30 It was all pomp and pageantry at Tangni, a farming community in the Tamale South constituency as it was their turn to hear the Haruna Iddrisu’s version of the biblical Genesis 1:3. There was rich cultural display exhibited in a form of dancing by young men and women and the elderly. The most spectacular sight to behold was however the waist-twisting dance by young women from which the clanging of their waist beads echoed beyond the precincts of Tamale South.
About 4.30 pm on December 28, Tangni was besieged with people from surrounding communities especially Jarigu to share in the glory of the final victory against darkness under the auspices of their servant Hon. Haruna Iddrisu.
The programme was well-attended by the crème de la crème: chiefs of villages abutting Tangni, distinguished MPs from the Northern Caucus, indefatigable Tamale South constituency executives, some present and past regional executives notably Chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Mobilla, opinion leaders, friends and the media.
Hon. Alhassan Mumuni, MP for Salaga North was given the spotlight to speak and he thrilled the crowd into euphoria. He extolled the "gubernatorial" prowess of the Tamale South legislator especially his ability to get things done by abracadabra. He urged the constituents of Tamale South to never let go of their MP lest they would lag behind in development. He said he had wished he had the Midas touch of their parliamentarian.
The MP after the speech was walked to the community’s sub-transformer where he proclaimed “Let there be light” as it is scripted in Genesis 3:1. He pushed the switch and the lights of smiles from the faces of the people brighten everywhere.
